Òran nan Selkie: For Orchestra and Choir

Pàirt a h-Aon (Part One)

An Cruinneachadh (The Gathering)

Here’s the original version of An Cruinneachadh scored for synthesizer, solo violin, choir, french horns, and various other fx such as seagulls, waves, calls from other sea creatures, and etc. You need to imagine yourself as a selkie swimming around the seas of the North & West coasts of Scotland.

It’s a fairly accomplished piece and I am quite happy with it, but it could be better set as a single event in a much wider, more challenging work on the Selkie legend, arranged for orchestra, choir, and organ.

This is the first few minutes of the introduction to the orchestrated version scored for orchestra, choir, and organ.

Nighean le Bogha na Falt (Girl With a Bow in Her Hair)

Part 1. For Orchestra

This is the first of a pair of waltzes for orchestra “inspired” by a line from a Tidelines song (guess which one), which reminded me of new years dances in the Corran Halls in Oban I went to back in my younger days.
