Òran nan Selkie: For Orchestra and Choir

Pàirt a h-Aon (Part One)

An Cruinneachadh (The Gathering)

Here’s the original version of An Cruinneachadh scored for synthesizer, solo violin, choir, french horns, and various other fx such as seagulls, waves, calls from other sea creatures, and etc. You need to imagine yourself as a selkie swimming around the seas of the North & West coasts of Scotland.

Part 1. For Orchestra

This is the first of a pair of waltzes for orchestra “inspired” by a line from a Tidelines song (guess which one), which reminded me of new years dances in the Corran Halls in Oban I went to back in my younger days.

How Not to Win a Prize in a Film Scoring Contest

This is my first attempt at writing an orchestral cue for a movie scene. I didn’t win a prize. The music is ok – a nice (mostly harp) piece. The mixing and mastering is not very good – I have no idea how to do this side of things properly although I do have the proper tools – Cubase 14 Pro and Wavelab 12.

The mistake I made was t delete the supplied audio track and replace it with my cue – not the way to go.
